The 3SAE Liquid Clamp Cleaver II LDF, (patent pending) is the most advanced large diameter fiber cleaver for circular and shaped fibers from 125um to 1000um. The Liquid Clamp Cleaver II LDF not only produces very flat cleaves for improved splice loss and beam quality, but now features angle cleaving for fibers 250 to 1000um in diameter at no extra cost. Angle cleaving is controlled by way of the on-board LCD and keypad interface which allows up to 30 degrees of rotation.

Large-diameter optical fibers are increasingly important in the development of new optical technologies. Cleaving these fibers for splicing presents many challenges. Low angle offsets and smooth, flat endfaces are required. Many fibers are non-round or have internal structures that interfere with conventional cleaving. With some fibers priced in hundreds of dollars per meter, the length of cutoff scrap must be minimized.

The most revolutionary aspect of the EFC 11-4 is the ultrasonic cleaving action. The EFC 11-4 has the same technology as in the EFC 11 with a fiber holder platform to accommodate most splicers on the market today. A precision diamond blade is attached to a resonant acoustic-stepped horn. The ultrasonic horn resonance is started and maintained for the duration of the cleave by an electronic circuit. It is then automatically terminated to preserve battery life.

End Face Inspection Station 3SAE EndFace Inspection Station
The Endface Inspection Station (EFI) is a fiber inspection tool that inspects the end-face of a fiber. The EFI is primarily used to assist in PM splicing, but can also be used as a tool for inspecting fiber end-faces after fiber preparation such as cleaving or polishing.
